Deposit Anywhere FAQ

What is Deposit Anywhere?

•    Deposit Anywhere is a new feature offered within PACE’s mobile banking app.  It allows mobile app users to deposit Canadian cheques by taking a photo of them and submitting them to PACE, anywhere, anytime, quickly and securely using an Apple product or an Android product.

How do I get started using Deposit Anywhere?

•    If you already have online banking and have downloaded our mobile banking app, you will see the deposit icon.  Simply click deposit and follow the steps to complete your deposit.
•    If you do not have access to online banking please contact a PACE branch close to you. Then if you have not already downloaded our mobile banking app, it is available through the App store or Google Play store.

How do I use Deposit Anywhere?

•    Depositing a cheque with Deposit Anywhere is easy.  Open up our mobile banking app, tap the “deposit’ button, select the account you’d like the funds deposited to, enter the amount, take a photo of the front and back of the cheque, confirm the details and tap “submit”.  The funds will then be deposited securely into your account the next business day.

What devices are compatible with Deposit Anywhere?

•    iPhone, iPod, iPad.
•    Android smartphones and tablets.

What are the benefits of Deposit Anywhere?

•    Members can quickly and securely deposit Canadian cheques from anywhere and at any time day or night.

How does it work?
•    Simply open the mobile banking app and select deposit.
•    Choose the account that you wish to deposit the cheque into.
•    Enter the amount of the cheque.
•    Take a picture of the front and the back of the cheque.
•    Confirm the details and submit.

After making the deposit how long does it take for the funds to be deposited?

•    The funds will appear in your account the following business day.
•    Funds may be subject to holds that are similar to ATM and branch deposits.

What happens to the cheque that was deposited?

•    You are required to keep that cheque for a period of 120 days.  Following that period you are to destroy that cheque.
•    You are not required to bring that cheque into the branch or mail that cheque into the branch.

How many cheques can be deposited?

•    There is no limit to the number of cheques that can be deposited.

Is there a limit on the amount of the deposit?

•    No there is not a daily deposit limit

Are there additional fees to use Deposit Anywhere?

•    No.  There are no fees to use this service. 

Can a foreign currency cheque be deposited?
•    Deposit Anywhere can only deposit Canadian cheques into Canadian currency accounts  including:
     o    Government of Canada cheques
     o    Canadian personal cheques
     o    Canadian Bank drafts
     o    Certified cheques
     o    Money orders
•    The cheques must be payable to you and drawn on a Canadian FI

What if the image of the cheque is not clear?
•    If the photo of the cheque does not meet all of the criteria, it will fail and you will be asked to submit a new picture of the cheque prior to the confirmation of deposit.

Does the cheque image get stored on my device?
•    No. the Canadian Payments Association (CPA) requires that the image of the cheque be deleted from the device once the transaction has been completed or cancelled and your phone will delete it for you automatically.

What happens if I enter the wrong amount by mistake?
•    Sometimes mistakes happen. But not to worry, we will double check all the information to ensure the right amount is deposited quickly and securely into your account. If you do have any questions about the cheques you submit, you can call us anytime at 1-877-588-7223 and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Can I use the funds right away?
•    Similar to deposits at an ATM or in the branch, there are often holds on the item and the funds may require time to clear.

Is depositing cheques with a mobile phone safe?
•    Yes. As a feature of our mobile banking app, Deposit Anywhere™ meets the same high standards as our mobile and online banking services.

How will I know if there is an issue with my deposit after I submit the cheque?
•    In the rare circumstance that there is an issue with the deposit after you receive confirmation during the deposit, you will be contacted by us.
