PACE contributes to $36,000 donation to Covenant House Toronto
The Benincasa family has supported Covenant House Toronto in memory of Matthew Benincasa annually through fundraisers like a `Fun Night of Comedy`. PACE Credit Union matches what they raise each year providing a larger donation. This year the Benincasa family along with PACE, donated an outstanding $36,000 to Covenant House Toronto. Donations like this help to provide 24/7 crisis care for homeless youth ages 16-24 in the Toronto area. They receive a wide range of services including education, counseling, health care and employment assistance. Covenant House is a safe place that encourages at risk youth to believe in themselves. PACE has a corporate social responsibility to contribute to programs that help the community as much at Covenant House.

PACE Assists with the Restoration of Malvern C.I. Memorial
 |
|
On Friday November 4th 2011, hundreds of people gathered outside of Malvern Collegiate Institute for the rededication of the restored World War I Memorial. The Malvern Memorial was designed by Emanuel Hahn and was originally unveiled on the school’s western lawn on May 19th 1922. Over the past 89 years the granite statue had fallen into a poor state and repairs were needed.
The Malvern Red and Black Society began the process to restoring the Malvern Memorial in 2003 after the schools Centennial Reunion. It wasn’t until early 2010 when the issue was brought to the table again. Now, with the commitment from local resident Arnie Williamson and quick action by the chair of the Toronto District School Board, Bruce Davis; the state of the statue was assessed and an estimate was made for the cost of repairs.
